Why FLAC?

With the news that Linn Audio are stopping production of CD players, the future of music listening may change. Linn advise using FLAC and have FLAC tracks to download on their site, which you have to pay for. In fact everybody appears to be asking you to pay for FLAC downloads, so this site will offer you these high quality downloads for free. You may not know the music, but at least you can hear what may take over from the current low quality downloads available.

Unless you have a player capable of reading FLAC files you will need to download either the wonderful MediaMonkey or the FLAC converter. Others are available of course, but these are the ones I used to create the songs available for download here.

The songs were created using Cubase re-wired to Reason and exported as WAV files running at 24bits and 96kHz. These were then compressed using the FLAC converter. Please be aware that the files are still quite large, Azure measures in at 91.7MB, as opposed to the mp3 version which was at 6MB although the original WAV was in at 167MB.
